Mastermind Groups Create Results!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Let me introduce you to Evan Carmichael, founder of website dedicated to motivation and strategies for entrepreneurs. He has an impressive blog dedicated to Mastermind Groups, that I think you will enjoy.

Evan was kind enough to include me in a recent series of posts about Mastermind Groups. What an honor to see my name mentioned among his regular contributors.

I encourage you to visit Evan’s website for free downloads on topics ranging from “Making Networking Work” to a “Venture Capital Guide”.

(And of course, take a peek at my post.)

Random Acts of Kindness!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Remember those bumperstickers “Practice Random Acts of Kindness”? Well, February 12th to 18th is Random Acts of Kindness Week! It’s our chance to really do it in a big big way.

Imagine if we all choose to consciously commit a random act of kindness a day. Wow. Wouldn’t life be lighter, easier and just a little more magical? After giving this some thought here are some ideas that I am going find ways to put into action:

Pay the toll for the guy behind you (OK, this is not an original thought. But it’s so darn cool!)

Smile. Smile. Smile. Be the first to smile at total strangers. (I do this all the time and it’s a joy)

Write a note to someone you cherish and simply say “Thank you for being in my life”

Get some tokens from the Kindness Project and pass them around! (OK, even if you don’t do this, check it out…. this is wonderful)

Have a GREAT day!

Affirmations To Go!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Ever come across a company and say “Geez, I wish I had created that!”?

That was exactly my thought when I came across this website, founded by two sisters in Ohio. ipop-in is all about bringing affirmations to techno-savvy, busy, iPod wearing people who want to kick it up a notch by putting good stuff in the brain.

After stumbling across ipopin.com yesterday, I immediately bought 5 of their recordings and am listening to them now! Here’s what I bought to start:
Everything I need comes to me easily and automatically

I am connected to the unlimited abundance of the Universe

I trust the process of life

I attract to me unlimited abundance

I let go and allow the Universe to guide me

Ah, life is good. Can’t wait to wake up tomorrow with these wonderful affirmations playing on my iBook!

Pure Inspiration and the World of Water

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

About 2 years ago I was introduced to the work of Dr Emoto through a movie called What the Bleep Do We Know?. Like anything new that captures our attention, I suddenly started seeing Dr Emoto’s work with water crystals everywhere, even though he’d been published for some time.

Today I was inspired to share with you an excerpt from Dr Emoto’s findings that was printed in a new magazine called Pure Inspiration. Whether you believe the results of Dr Emoto’s studies or not, they sure are fascinating. They beg the question “If I am mostly water, what impact are my words and the words of others having on MY wellbeing?”. Great question.

(Psst! The answer lies in the heart of why we created Affirmawraps)

Let me know what you think about the article.

To find out what people all over the world are doing to bring the healing energy of laughter into their lives visit the schedule by time zone at BellyLaughtDay.com.

It’s amazing what possible in life. Here is an excerpt from a letter from Elaine Helle, the woman behind it all.

“I am a 53 year old laughter yoga teacher. I believe what gets recognized gets repeated, what gets celebrated becomes habit. In June, 2005 I thought we celebrate love, give thanks, and recognize flossing (day after Thanksgiving). Why don’t we celebrate the great gift of laughter? Thus Belly Laugh Day, January 24 was born.

How do we celebrate the great gift of laughter on January 24? On January 24 at 1:24 p.m. (local time) smile, throw your arms in the air and laugh out loud.

Creating an Inner Circle for Success

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Over the weekend I flew down to Newport Beach with 400 other people to attend Mark Victor Hansen’s Mega Inner Circle Visionary Leadership Summit. (Mark is big into creating ‘Mega’ events. This is my second. And trust me, they are mega. If you have a chance to go, do it. The pure hit of energy is worth it)

Reflecting on the experience, I realize how valuable it is to have an ‘inner circle’ - a group of people who have your highest and best in mind. Sometimes called a Mastermind Group, creating a circle of people that support one another is vital to success. None of us get to the top of the mountain alone. Why would we when it is so much sweeter up there being surrounded by friends?

Triple Your Personal Productivity by Steve Pavlina

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

We Americans seemingly have a big thing for working hard. Or at least we seem to spend a lot of time at work. Reading Steve Pavlina’s article about productivity this afternoon really struck a chord with me; I instinctively knew exactly what he was talking about.

While I am fairly confident that I get a lot done, I am consistently left with feeling like I could do more. So, I’ve decided to create a time log and really get to the bottom of how much time I spend on revenue generating actions vs. time that may move the action forward but doesn’t impact the bottom line. Where can I improve? Where can I insert time for big thinking outside of daily action items?

15 degrees

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Talking to one of my dearest friends today, we somehow got on the topic of life - where are we, where are we going. You know the conversation. This woman is a powerhouse. VP of a major financial services company, mother of 4 (she had triplets a year ago), and her fabulous husband has beat cancer - twice. Knowing her since I was 10, you can imagine the mileage our friendship has covered.

Sharing about our recent successes, our questions about life, and dancing in the possibility of our respective futures, I had an ah-ha moment. When considering “what’s next for me” it isn’t about turning life upside down. It’s about making intentional 15 degree shifts. Do that enough times, degree by degree, and boy is the view of life different!

The great news is that these shifts can be in alignment with your current life…. the career, the kids, the commitments. True success is loving all you got AND adding more (or subtracting) until that divine balance comes into being. In doing so we create a way to be who we are now, along with contributing to the world in a new powerful way. A new ‘me’ arises, grounded in the old.

What 15 degree shifts can you make this year? Which direction will they take you? And what will you accomplish from charting a slightly different course?

The Power of I am

Monday, January 8th, 2007

This is an encore performance for an entry that was originally posted on November 14, 2006.

I am. How many times a day to you start a thought with those three letters?

Since I started tuning into what I was telling myself about myself, my life changed. Today when thoughts like, “I am behind”, “I am too busy” or “I am not going to meet my goal” come up, I stop and THINK about what I am saying. Many times if I reframe the thought to “I am right on schedule”, “I am on track to get exactly what needs to be done, done today” and “I am a magnet for miracles with ease and grace” life get really easy, really fast. I put myself at ease, and allow my mind to work on productive conversations and not ones that hold me back.
I encourage you to start listening to what you are telling yourself. Recently, someone said “most of us wouldn’t talk to our best friends the way we talk to ourselves”. Listen. Learn. Reframe your “I am” and see what happens.

Build a team today

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Just like when I was 13 and telling everyone about the car I was going to buy for high school, as adults it takes a team of people knowing and supporting our big plans to make them come true.

I was lucky enough as a teenager to have a dad that not only believed in me, but pushed me to make things happen in life. “You want a car? Great, get a job. And then I will help you make it happen.” If I earned enough to buy the Mustang of my 15 year-old-dreams, he would match me. My dad was my first teammate.
While I no longer have anyone in my personal life that will front half of the money for what I want, I do have a team of people that get what I am up to and help me get there. As I reflect on the past year, having created a network of personal and professional cheerleaders has never served me better.
As Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad has his Rich Dad Advisors, I have built my “team of professionals” as I like to call them.
Thinking about building a Dream Team? Or adding to your existing roster of pros? Here are some tips to make it happen.

1. Always seek to serve. As Zig Ziglar taught me; To get what you want, help others get what they want. This is so true. BUT HERE’S THE TRICK. Always seek to serve without an agenda for personal gain. Be helpful. Be thoughtful. And most of all be genuine. The universe rewards kindness and thoughtfulness. Start seeking to serve, and be amazed at how that same energy is returned to you.

2. Be deliberate about the caliber of people you desire in your life. Yes, we get to decide who is in our lives. In fact, I encourage you to look around your life. Who’s there? The people you attract are in complete alignment with the energy you are sending out. Want to be around more abundant people? Start thinking abundantly. Want more loving people? You know what to do.

3. Adopt a “Gratitude is my Attitude” mantra. Being in gratitude is like building a huge magnet that attracts more and more of what you are grateful for. It’s is truly one of life’s coolest things. Here’s a great action item: write 5 notes a week to the people in your life that you value. Send them a note just because and TELL them you are thankful for them. This can’t help but make you (and them!) feel great.

Getting your team (and getting on some other teams) will rocket you forward. All it takes is a little time, energy and thoughtfulness.
