What’s your Vision?

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

Setting goals has been a cornerstone of my success. Since I was about 13, I was dreaming about the car I would drive in high school (a 1965 Mustang, that I still own). Every week in the summertime I would get a copy of Auto Trader, and pour over the pages…. getting smart about what I wanted, and burning an image into my mind. One week before I turned 16, an amazing two-owner, vintage burgundy hardtop was mine. All thanks to my dad (who totally got my vision - more on this later), the power of visualization and a lot of summer jobs. As a teenager that car was my freedom. As an adult it’s a reminder that vision, focus and actions all working in concert get us the things we desire.

Today the Auto Traders of my world are images that I have assembled into a Vision Book and a Vision Board. Seeing images that conjure my heart’s desire - both personally and professionally - make them come alive day to day.

What would your Vision Book and Vision Board look like? It starts with a simple question: What do I want? Once you have an idea, you’ll start seeing images, and hearing ideas that are in alignment with your vision. Grab them and get them in front of you. I promise in doing so your dreams will start to come true.

Affirmation Power Boost!

Happy New Year! Today I am at the desk for a bit, getting all set to rock and roll this week. I can’t wait. This is going to be a remarkable year.

Yesterday I finalized all my goals for 2007 - and I am jazzed. While I have always loved to write my goals as affirmations, I recently learned two really cool ways to tweak affirmations making them even more powerful.
The first tweak is courtesy of The Secret. When writing out affirmations start your list (or statement) with “I am so happy and grateful now that…”. This is a really wonderful way to receive your big dreams, and small desires, into your life immediately.

The second tweak is from Michael Losier (our Guest Expert this month at Affirmagy). Michael suggests that affirmations (especially the big ones that we haven’t quite wrapped our heads around yet) be started with “I am in the process of…”. I have to tell you this tip has made a HUGE difference in my thinking, and here’s why.
