Wisdom of the ages.

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

My dad is so cool. About once a month, he changes the outgoing message on his cel phone to one of his favorite inspirational quotes. I was delighted when I heard his most recent; “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

In a world that occasionally gives “positive thinking” a bad rap, what was even more delightful was learning who uttered those words. It was our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.

Inspiration and Purpose

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

There are many many things I love about Vision Week. Today my favorite is reflecting on all that has transpired over the past 12 months. Coming back to this beautiful place; going for a morning walk, smelling the warm air, writing, reading, and dreaming; I am amazed at how much as changed in my life based on the intentions I set a year ago.

Wayne Dyer is one master teacher of intention, inspiration, and purpose. Reading one of his articles this morning, I began to see at a deeper level how powerful we truly are when we step beyond our fears, and into our heart’s desire. Magic happens. The universe aligns to support us. Hard decisions become effortless when we are in the flow of our purpose. (more…)

The Power of Gratitude

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Today is the first day of Vision Week for Q1 2007! This next week I will share with you resources, people, opportunities and insights grounded in the intention “We’re Having our Best Year Ever”. (This powerful affirmation sits in a frame on my desk.) Coming are posts about vision, leadership, gratitude, success, goal setting, intention, affirmations…. you know, the good stuff!
I have decided to start this weeks posts with Gratitude for one very simple reason; If we are not grateful for what we have, we will not attract what we want.

Cruising the web this morning I came across a GREAT article about Gratitude. The article is by Ken Eikenberry, and was posted on SuccessConsciousness.com (a valuable site in it’s own right).

Part of how I create Vision Week for myself is all about acknowledging my accomplishments, having gratitude for where I am right now, and looking to the future knowing that all my dreams are coming true. A great quote on Joe Vitale’s blog, spoken by a friend of his is this: “I am satified, I just want more”. That’s the essence of gratitude.

Here’s Ken’s article, The Power of Gratitude.

Enjoy.

Wrap yourself in LOVE

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Can you imagine a world with a million people wrapped in these words?

Can you imagine what would it be like to teach our children to read using statements like these?

Can you imagine the impact such goodness would make?

We can.

I am surrounded by love • I am kind and caring • I easily attract nurturing people and experiences into my life • My circle of friends continues to expand • I radiate joy and happiness • I passionately follow my dreams • I find delight in the little things • Each day I give thanks for the love in my life • Love is all around me • I joyfully express love • My heart is full • I accept myself exactly the way I am • I live my best life filled with love • The more love I give, the more love I receive • My soul freely and fully expresses itself • I release the past and allow the healing power of love into my life • I am a magnet for wonderful things • I am in love with my life

Happy Valentine’s Day. (and Affirmagy’s birthday!)

Who are you not to be?

Friday, February 9th, 2007

When I started my design company in 1996, I posted this quote on the wall directly in front of my desk. Today I find it has an even deeper meaning for me. In my opinion these are some of the wisest words every written. Enjoy.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Finding Your Ideal Life Work

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

These QuickTips come courtesy of Patricia Crane, Ph.D. and Rick Nichols
of Heart Inspired Presentations. I found them too good to pass up! I had to share.

Most people want meaning and fulfillment in their work, not just a 9:-5: job
that pays the bills. If your heart is longing for a new career, read these tips
and put them into action!

1. Be happy with who you are where you are right now. Practice feeling as
though you are in your ideal work wherever you are right now. Don’t wait
to be happy or accept yourself “until… ‘ you lose he weight, meet the right
partner, get the great job. The time is NOW.

2. Practice living your life purpose right now. What are the values you live
by, no matter where you go? Express those!

3. Identify your important past accomplishments, starting from your
earliest memories. What’s important about them today?

4. Identify your unique skills and abilities and favorite activities. Make a
list- brag on yourself! Ask your friends what they see as your skills and
abilities. Notice what you do easily. What do others ask you to do?

5. Focus on what excites you, what you feel passionate about. What
do you want to share with others? What is your mission?

Random Acts of Kindness!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Remember those bumperstickers “Practice Random Acts of Kindness”? Well, February 12th to 18th is Random Acts of Kindness Week! It’s our chance to really do it in a big big way.

Imagine if we all choose to consciously commit a random act of kindness a day. Wow. Wouldn’t life be lighter, easier and just a little more magical? After giving this some thought here are some ideas that I am going find ways to put into action:

Pay the toll for the guy behind you (OK, this is not an original thought. But it’s so darn cool!)

Smile. Smile. Smile. Be the first to smile at total strangers. (I do this all the time and it’s a joy)

Write a note to someone you cherish and simply say “Thank you for being in my life”

Get some tokens from the Kindness Project and pass them around! (OK, even if you don’t do this, check it out…. this is wonderful)

Have a GREAT day!

Affirmations To Go!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Ever come across a company and say “Geez, I wish I had created that!”?

That was exactly my thought when I came across this website, founded by two sisters in Ohio. ipop-in is all about bringing affirmations to techno-savvy, busy, iPod wearing people who want to kick it up a notch by putting good stuff in the brain.

After stumbling across ipopin.com yesterday, I immediately bought 5 of their recordings and am listening to them now! Here’s what I bought to start:
Everything I need comes to me easily and automatically

I am connected to the unlimited abundance of the Universe

I trust the process of life

I attract to me unlimited abundance

I let go and allow the Universe to guide me

Ah, life is good. Can’t wait to wake up tomorrow with these wonderful affirmations playing on my iBook!
