Flower Power

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Ever wonder what happens to those beautiful flowers at the event you just attended? In 2003 Nancy Lawlor did while admiring the flowers in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. The result? The Flower Power Foundation.

Nancy has found her passion ‘re-purposing’ flowers from events and weddings, and gifting them to those who otherwise would not receive fresh flowers. In 4 years she’s re-purposed over $2,000,000 in flowers and touched the lives of thousands. Impressive.

I found Nancy on DarynKagan.com. See the video here (waiting through the 15-30 second sponsor is worth it).

Here’s to us each uncovering our heart’s desire.

Shift Shift Shift

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Every once in awhile, I get overwhelmed by the magnitude of what I’ve done over the past year and a half to be able to run Affirmagy full time. It’s been one of the most rewarding, scary and down right “whoa, can’t believe I did that” times in my life.

So, occasionally I get stuck in my own “mind trash” and I start having some pretty unproductive conversations with myself. Oh goodie.

The good news is I am a quick study, and after a day or so of this I decided enough was enough and I decided to shift my thinking. Here’s the cool part. Within 24 hours of me changing my tune, the universe responded. Today I had no less than four people offer to support our current efforts. I was blown away by the opportunities literally flooding my inbox this morning.

I tell ya, it pays to listen to what you are telling yourself. And it pays off when we are willing to do something about it.

All in Good Time

This post was originally written February 1st. Enjoy.

I am not sure where this comes from, but I am one of those people who likes the tempo of life moving at a fairly fast clip. My sense of urgency regarding things for which I feel passionate can resemble the Tasmanian Devil.

So you can imagine when things are not moving fast, fast, fast, I can get a little, well, grumpy. And for about the last week, that’s exactly what I have been. Being grumpy takes energy - so much that last night I gave up and went to bed about an hour early, and I slept in a half hour past my usual time. Boy, I needed it!

Thank goodness I took the time because something in me has profoundly shifted as a result. Laying in bed this morning, half awake, there were four words running through my head: “Everything in good time”. Huh? What? Who said that? (more…)

Maui Millionaires

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

In November Diane Kennedy (she’s a Rich Dad Adviser) and David Finkel published “Maui Millionaires”, a book the captures the lessons and experiences from the Maui Millionaire retreats they started about 4 years ago.

What a read! While I am thrilled that I have it here during Vision Week, I can’t believe I waited almost 4 months to dive into it. GREAT stuff.

Treat yourself to this book. Non only will the personal shifts change your life, the information about how to create a mastermind group has the power to quantum leap anyone who applies it.

Plus, they have created the Dream Big Game. I am playing that tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Mastermind Groups Create Results!

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Let me introduce you to Evan Carmichael, founder of website dedicated to motivation and strategies for entrepreneurs. He has an impressive blog dedicated to Mastermind Groups, that I think you will enjoy.

Evan was kind enough to include me in a recent series of posts about Mastermind Groups. What an honor to see my name mentioned among his regular contributors.

I encourage you to visit Evan’s website for free downloads on topics ranging from “Making Networking Work” to a “Venture Capital Guide”.

(And of course, take a peek at my post.)

Creating an Inner Circle for Success

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Over the weekend I flew down to Newport Beach with 400 other people to attend Mark Victor Hansen’s Mega Inner Circle Visionary Leadership Summit. (Mark is big into creating ‘Mega’ events. This is my second. And trust me, they are mega. If you have a chance to go, do it. The pure hit of energy is worth it)

Reflecting on the experience, I realize how valuable it is to have an ‘inner circle’ - a group of people who have your highest and best in mind. Sometimes called a Mastermind Group, creating a circle of people that support one another is vital to success. None of us get to the top of the mountain alone. Why would we when it is so much sweeter up there being surrounded by friends?

Triple Your Personal Productivity by Steve Pavlina

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

We Americans seemingly have a big thing for working hard. Or at least we seem to spend a lot of time at work. Reading Steve Pavlina’s article about productivity this afternoon really struck a chord with me; I instinctively knew exactly what he was talking about.

While I am fairly confident that I get a lot done, I am consistently left with feeling like I could do more. So, I’ve decided to create a time log and really get to the bottom of how much time I spend on revenue generating actions vs. time that may move the action forward but doesn’t impact the bottom line. Where can I improve? Where can I insert time for big thinking outside of daily action items?
