My blog has a new home. Come visit.
I think one of the coolest things about living right now, in this time and space, is that we are learning how powerful our minds really are. We are grasping at a whole new level our ability to shape our lives and to create our experience on a moment by moment basis.
Take the idea of positive thinking. Isn’t it easy to poo-poo it as the stuff of ‘overly happy people’? Have you ever been around someone who seemingly always sees the positive side of things? Annoying, isn’t it?
Well, I am one of those people. I confess. I am a positive thinking, habitually happy person. There, I said it.
And I want to let you in on a little secret: even positive people have bad days. Take last last week, for example. I was sooooo not in my groove. And choose to let loose and wallow in all the frustration, irritations, upsets, and the ick I could think of. I cried and cried and cried, wadded up in a ball on my bathroom floor at 1:00am. I was whaling into a towel – you know, huh-huh-huh-huh-waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! - and totally committed to being a crying mess. Then I stopped. I decided I was being a little over the top, and I chose to get into gratitude.
Ah, gratitude. The ultimate emotion.
I believe positive thinking is grounded in and can be found by choosing gratitude. Being thankful for what we have is the most powerful way to train our brains to be positive. And for me, it’s the fastest way to shift from stinky experiences to ‘damn, I have a great life.’
So today, in honor of all happy, positive people (and the great things they are doing to impact the world) let’s get into gratitude and see what happens!
This post is part of the The Power of Positive Thinking Group Writing Project organized by Kirsten Harrell of the Positive Thinking Blog.
Life is good.
Rhonda Byrne and her team are creating magic, again. Yesterday I visited The Secret website and to my delight discovered they have added all kinds of goodies called Secret Gifts. It’s worth a trip to check out and find a gift for yourself.
This morning I started my day with this truly wonderful video clip. What a way to start a day!
The more I get into connecting with ‘mommy blogs’ as I affectionately call them, the more entertained, amused and tickled I am. As a childless-by-choice woman (I heard that at a dinner party recently) I only get to see into this world occasionally. While I do have a dear friend with triplets, she lives several states away and spares me the details. Knowing about the fluids, the bruises, and weird things kids do is enough to make me faint. Yes, I am a whimp.
So it’s with delight that I have I found myself laughing out loud over my laptop reading some of the wittiest, funniest, brightest diatribes posted by some of the smartest women on the planet. Seriously, these women have game. How could they not? The things you learn being a mom. Wow. I would explode.
Anyway, here are my favorite blogs to date. Rock on ladies. And thank you for putting it all out there to be the amazing mom’s you are.
AMALAH (this woman can write circles around anyone)
SLACKER MOMS R US (fabulous site!)
WHITE TRASH MOM (it ain’t easy being queen…)
COOL MOM PICKS (ok, this is a product review site, but it’s cool)
Do you have a favorite blog we should know about? Tell me.
We’ve been busy at Affirmagy. Spring has sprung and our Baby Blanket Bonanza is beginning to gain steam. Mom’s from all over are entering our contest. We are so excited!
As part of the Law of Attraction, we learn that ‘what we focus on expands’. It’s that funny phenomenon when you fall in love with a red Audi 4 door, and suddenly you see on the road are red Audi 4 door’s.
Well, the same thing just happened to me - with babies. Case in point: Earlier today I was minding my own business online and suddenly I popped onto Parenting Magazine’s website. And, golly, the have a host of contests celebrating our little ones. Who knew! I was so delighted to come across this and be able to share it others. Click here to check it out.
Enjoy.
I have a vision of a generation raised with positive affirmations - the power of words - as an integral part of living a meaningful life. Imagine growing up hearing and reading “I am a true miracle”, “I am filled with unlimited possibilities”, “I am a bright light in the world”. WOW! As a grown up I love the sound of those affirmations.
So we got to thinking about little ones, and decided to launch the Baby Blanket Bonanza contest! Now proud moms and dads can enter photos of their bundles of joy in their favorite blankie for the chance to win $250 and a bundle of Affirmawraps. Plus, for every eligible entry we recieve, Affirmagy will donate $1 to The March of Dimes. Cool, eh?
Do you have a little one in your life? Enter our contest and maybe they’ll be selected. If entering isn’t in the cards, consider getting them an Affirmawrap and help us make a difference in the lives of our little ones.
Life is good.
My dad is so cool. About once a month, he changes the outgoing message on his cel phone to one of his favorite inspirational quotes. I was delighted when I heard his most recent; “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
In a world that occasionally gives “positive thinking” a bad rap, what was even more delightful was learning who uttered those words. It was our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
Don’t you love to see people out there doing cool things? Here are some things that just make life sweeter, brought to you by people who have their heart in the right place and their vision on the good things in life.

Who do you know someone out there who is doing good? Please share.
Who would think up such a great question? Jennifer Louden. In her own powerful way, Jennifer offers a fresh voice and sage insights into being a woman. Reading the question above instantly put a smile on my face. What a beautiful way to ask our heart’s true desire.
An accomplished author, speaker, consultant and mom, Jennifer has what look to be some of the most divine retreats on the planet. Attending one in 2007 is going on my goal list today.
Jennifer was introduced to me by Michele Lisenbury Christensen, co-founder of Working With Power (I literally just got the double entendre last week). Michele and Sara Harvey Yao are two experts in balancing masculine and feminine energies. What they teach is very, very cool.
Today I invite you to give yourself the gift of learning about Jennifer, Michele and Sara. In doing so, I have a hunch you’ll find something that touches your heart and nurtures your soul. Happy exploring.
Remember those bumperstickers “Practice Random Acts of Kindness”? Well, February 12th to 18th is Random Acts of Kindness Week! It’s our chance to really do it in a big big way.
Imagine if we all choose to consciously commit a random act of kindness a day. Wow. Wouldn’t life be lighter, easier and just a little more magical? After giving this some thought here are some ideas that I am going find ways to put into action:
Pay the toll for the guy behind you (OK, this is not an original thought. But it’s so darn cool!)
Smile. Smile. Smile. Be the first to smile at total strangers. (I do this all the time and it’s a joy)
Write a note to someone you cherish and simply say “Thank you for being in my life”
Get some tokens from the Kindness Project and pass them around! (OK, even if you don’t do this, check it out…. this is wonderful)
Have a GREAT day!
